Music & Memories Concert - November 21, 2010

The Cobequid Cultural Society & The Sackville Legion Calais Branch 162 hosted Music & Memories from the Big Band Era last month, performed by The Sackville Community Band & Friends.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the establishment of a Bedford-Sackville performing arts venue and the Royal Canadian Legion's 2010 Poppy Campaign.

Donald Hunsberger - October 23, 2010

Dr. Donald Hunsberger, Conductor Emeritus of the Eastman Wind Ensemble conducted a special workshop with the Sackville Community Band on 23 October 2010. Other professional and community band musicians, along with members of the Nova Scotia Band Association, were invited and a total of 84 took part in the event. The session was marvellous and the repertoire performed included:

• Fantasia on Lady of Spain, Tolchard Evans Arr. Hunsberger
• A Jazz Suite, Robert Mersey Arr. Hunsberger
• La Bamba de Vera Cruz, Terig Tucci Arr. Hunsberger
• Suite of Old American Dances, Robert Russell Bennett
